Global 3D and VFX company RealD and Shanghai Redstar Macalline Pictures Development Co. have signed a deal to add 11 ultra premium auditoriums to its Redstar Macalline Cinemas. This means Redstar will be building a total of 15 “LUXE: A RealD Experience” auditoriums over the next three years across China, following the announcement in December 2015, which saw the two companies agree to build four premium cinemas across the territory, two of which have opened already – one in Beijing and the other in Chongking. As of November 25, there were 11 LUXE auditoriums in operation in 10 major cities in mainland China. This number is expected to reach 17 by the end of the year and 33 by the end of 2017. Redstar Macalline will also install 100 RealD 3D systems across the Middle Kingdom over the next three years.
