CBS News confirmed to Deadline this morning that it has reached a “long-term deal with Gayle King and is extremely excited about” the morning show’s momentum. Intention is to keep the CBS This Morning cast intact — King teamed with Norah O’Donnell and Charlie Rose.
King’s contract re-up news was given first to New York Post‘s Page 6 column, reported at more than $5M a year. Unlike its competitors, The morning show is up this season compared to last in both overall audience and news demo — +13% in the latter — but continues to trail both ABC’s Good Morning America and NBC’s Today. CBS This Morning finished the November sweep with the network’s best audience delivery in the time slot since at least 1993, CBS said.
