‘I Am Cait’: Caitlyn Jenner Talks Voice Surgery — August 2 Recap – Hollywood Life

‘I Am Cait’ Recap: Caitlyn Considers Surgery To Get A Female Voice

Even though Caitlyn Jenner opened up to the world about being transgender, there are still a few things she's still self conscious about. One of those things is her voice and Cait is considering vocal surgery to achieve a more feminine sound. Caitlyn Jenner, 65, has gone though a lot ever since she came out as a transgender woman. She made quite a few changes to her body and is possibly thinking about one more -- vocal surgery. Cait revealed her uneasiness about being outed by her natural voice and although Kim Kardashian, 34, has been very supportive, she was uneasy about the invasive procedure.

Concerns about complications almost always go hand in hand whenever there’s talk about surgical procedures. Although Caitlyn is interested in changing her voice through surgical procedures to become more feminine, her step-daughter isn’t too crazy about that idea. Kim asked Cait, “What if they made a mistake and you came out with no voice?” That’s certainly something Cait has to think about if she decides to go through with a pitch-altering surgery. That wasn’t the last time Caitlyn thought about her voice.

While the 65-year-old is well aware of other ways she can work on changing her pitch (working with a vocal coach, practicing with phone apps, etc.) Caitlyn is still interested in learning how other trans women changed their voice. When Cait sits down with a group of transgender women for dinner, the 65-year-old asked the ladies at the table what they’ve done to change their vocal cords. “I haven’t done one thing,” advocate Chandi Moore said in response to Cait’s question. “If you’re going to accept me, you’re going to accept me.” While others like, Jen Richards, admitted they saw vocal therapists because they hated being outed by their voice.

Caitlyn’s Friends Worried She Won’t Understand Transgender Struggles

As Caitlyn is learning more about the transgender community and is embracing herself, Cait’s girlfriends are worried she won’t understand the struggles many transgender women went through. In the episode the women go on a road trip to San Francisco, Calif. and the topic of social programs for transgender people came up.

While a majority of the women in the group agreed with these programs, Caitlyn was afraid the people in need will become dependent on the help they’re receiving. “Now I’m worried,” Jenny Boylan said as the other women show signs of discomfort. “Caitlyn has every right to be just as conservative as she choses, but many transgender men and women need social programs to survive, and that’s nothing to be ashamed of. Living in the bubble is an impediment to understanding other people. Cait’s going to be a spokesperson for the community. This is something she’s going to have to understand.”
